How to use it

  1. Enter weight in pounds (use target weight for weight loss).
  2. Pick the life stage.
  3. Find "kcal/cup" in the calorie statement on the bag.

How it works

Resting energy requirement RER = 70 × (weight in kg)^0.75. Daily need = RER × a life-stage factor (1.6 neutered adult, 1.8 intact, 2-3 puppies, 1.0 for weight loss). Divide by the food's kcal per cup. Treats should stay under about 10% of daily calories.

FAQ

How many cups should a 50 lb dog eat?

About 1,150 kcal a day for a neutered adult - roughly 3 cups of a 380 kcal/cup food.
